What is Track Day Insurance for?

If you take your car or motorcycle onto a racing circuit — whether for an organised track day or an amateur circuit event — your standard insurance policies generally do not provide protection.

Motor liability insurance and standard accident policies are usually designed for public-road use and often exclude track driving activities.

Track Day Liability Insurance and Track Day Accident Insurance are designed specifically to fill this protection gap and can be purchased online, even for a single day.

Provides cover if you cause damage to another party during a track day — another participant, spectator facilities, circuit infrastructure, or a third party.

Claims between participants can only be settled if all involved participants have signed the liability waiver (Haftungsverzicht) recommended by sportvers. Collecting these declarations is the responsibility of the circuit or event organiser, therefore it is advisable to confirm this in advance.

The insurance is not valid on public roads or during public tourist driving sessions (Touristenfahrten), such as the open-access periods on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Daily Accident Insurance (Tages-Unfallversicherung)

Provides benefits if you suffer an accident during a track event — including permanent disability, death, rescue costs and medical transport expenses.

Coverage limits (Allianz Commercial, WRB 200):

• €100,000 permanent disability base sum insured

• Up to €500,000 maximum benefit with 500% progression (for severe permanent disability)

• €50,000 death benefit

• €10,000 rescue and medical transport costs

• €10,000 hospital transport costs

Premium: from €15 per participant / day, IPT exempt

What should you know about disability benefits?

This accident insurance operates with a 25% integral deductible. Disability benefits are paid only if the degree of permanent impairment exceeds 25%.

If the impairment is assessed below 25%, no disability benefit is payable. This is a standard condition in motorsport accident insurance products and is intended to provide protection against serious, life-changing injuries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which circuits are covered?

The insurance is valid for organised circuit events within the European Union, including circuits such as Hungaroring, Pannonia-Ring, Slovakia Ring, Red Bull Ring, Salzburgring, Hockenheimring, Sachsenring, Brno, Most, Mugello and Monza.

The cover does not apply in the United States or Canada and is not valid during Nürburgring Nordschleife Touristenfahrten sessions.

When is the latest I can book?

We recommend completing the booking no later than the day before the event. This gives you enough time to receive and review your policy documents before arriving at the circuit.

Coverage starts at 00:00 and ends at 24:00 on the insured day.

What if the event is cancelled?

If the event itself is cancelled, please refer to the organiser's cancellation policy and the applicable insurance conditions.

If the event takes place but you decide not to participate, the premium is generally non-refundable, as cover was provided for the selected date.

Who is the insurer?

The insurance is underwritten by Allianz Commercial / Allianz Versicherungs-AG, Cologne, Germany.

The online booking and brokerage process is provided by sportvers GmbH under German law and supervision by BaFin.

Is this valid on the Nürburgring Nordschleife?

No. The insurance is not valid during Nürburgring Nordschleife Touristenfahrten sessions.

Touristenfahrten are considered public road use rather than organised circuit events and are therefore excluded from cover.

What is NOT covered?

Legal Background in Hungary

Track day insurance operates within the Hungarian legal framework. Government Decree 121/2024 (VI. 10.) made liability insurance mandatory for all motorsport events. This obligation primarily applies to event organisers, but it also affects participants and competitors.

The exclusion of track events from standard motor liability insurance (KGFB) is based on Section 15(i) of Act LXII of 2009. This exclusion is not specific to your insurer but forms part of every Hungarian compulsory motor liability insurance policy.
